If you hate waste and love beer, this is for you!
Those of you who’ve collected a campervan from our base on North Western Street might have noticed that our next door neighbour is Beer Nouveau - a brewery and tap room who have been making amazing beers for years. There are certainly worse places to work next door to!
Owner and brewer Steve Dunkley is obsessed with trying experimental brews. Some of his beers include hops growing on a patch of grassland in the centre of Manchester, whilst others follow centuries-old recipes.
His latest beers involve pairing up with Open Kitchen MCR, the new name for Manchester’s infamous Real Junk Food project. The new range of beers are created using a host of fresh ingredients that would otherwise have gone to waste.
It's estimated that 15 million tonnes of food is wasted in Britain every year. Beer Nouveau and Open Kitchen Mcr are trying to reduce this with creations such as a peach wheat beer, and an oatmeal plum stout!
Of course, good beer needs good food, so Open Kitchen MCR will be coming up with their own amazing creations with whatever quality ingredients they can get their hands on. to pair with the beers.
The beers are available every week when the brewery bar is open on Fridays and Saturdays.
You can try the food and drink on the second Friday of every month at Beer Nouveau’s brew tap - hopefully see you there from 4:30pm on Friday the 10th of May...fingers crossed the Coffee IPA will be ready!
( Clearly, I don't want you to drive a campervan or any other vehicle after you've had a beer - it's not big or clever.)
Thanks for reading, Nick 🚌 😄
